Well after watching this video about figurative speech its actually a little bit fun and about the figurative speech examples in this story there are many but I wanna say the one when his dad said to him that give him a hand by that he means to help him with the work he is doing but the boy thought that his father wanted an actual hand.so he glued his hand and wore gloves.
2: the next example is the one with the truck where he fell over it and broke it into pieces and showed it to his mom and his mom said that might broked your heart by that his mom actually meant that your hurt because his truck broked into pieces but the boy was getting something else out of it he thought that it actually broke his real heart so he wore a pillow and was being carefull.
But by the end of all of these things his mom and dad told him it was nothing that you have to worry about and they thought for a minute that their son has lost his mind but they calmed him down.

Brilliant work, Fiza! You are such a great observer! It's a fun story and I also liked what he thought of "stretching arms and legs" - chillaxing!

Did any of the explanation, given by his parents, calm him or was he still worried about figures of speech? What's the reason behind Tedd saying that "I'm sure he (his father) didn't mean to be unkind..."

After watching this video this video story based on some fun and plus lots of knowledge i woul like to mention 2 stories.
1:in this story a coach who always says before each game is ready to start he gets so nervous that he nearly jumps out of his skin.
Meaning:it means he dont want to play game because of his fear and looks like that he is not in the game like as a guest.
2:In this story a girls grandma said to her hold your tongue.
Meaning:it means her tongue was slippery,slimy,jiggy,etc

After watching this video the story was about of fun and plot . In this story I have observed the following figurative speech such .
1 . When his father was working . He told to his son , "please give me a hand ". Which figuratively mean to help his father . But he ran away and said to himself that I didn't want to give him my hand .
2 . When his neighbour was telling him a joke that she said ," it's sure to crack you up" . Which figuratively means to laugh openly .in Urdu means کھل کھلا کر ہنسنا
But again he ran away .

These were example of figurative speech in the story and many more .

1: BROKEN HEART.
For example ( I will bet that broke your heart)
It is idiom and Metaphor as well.
It does not mean your heart is literally broken into pieces. It means you just feel hurt and sad.
2: GIVE HIM A HAND.
LIKE( If I would please give him a hand).
In figure of speech it is Idiom.
And does not mean your hand is literally given to someone.
It means you help him or just it is used for your attention and service to someone.
3: HOLD THE TONGUE.
LIKE( hold your tongue)
In figure of speech it is METAPHOR.
Because hold has been used in the comparison of stopping or refraining.
Hold your tongue does not mean to hold or catch your tongue with hands or something else but it means not to say anything or stop your speaking.

after watching the video about figurative speech so that story is a little little fun in that story the example of figurative speech are many but a few of them I have mention it.
1:in first example is the one where his tracuk fell over and broke it into many pieces and then his truk showed to his mum then his mum said to him that you are hurt broked it is actually mean that you are hurt because his just broke into many piecesbut the boy thought so that it actually broke his real hurt and he was a pillow and being careful.

It's not "give me your hand" it is actually "give me a hand".
So one misplaced word can change the meaning of figurative speech into literal speech.

That's right, Raza, there's fun in each part.
Meraj, as a linguist, you should know that both "give me your hand" and "give me a hand" are acceptable as a figure of speech. No, the word "your" doesn't change the meaning, if you are using it in a context of actually asking for help.

The following are some examples of the figurative speech mentioned in the story "More Parts" by Tedd Arnold:

1: "Hold your tongue"

Meaning;
The figurative meaning of “Hold your tongue” is...

• to keep quiet when one would rather speak
• used when telling people not to speak

Example:
Our classmates need to hold their tongues while the ma'am is teaching during online class.

2: "Give (someone or something) a hand"

Meaning;
The figurative meaning of “Give (someone or something) a hand” is...

• To help someone with something.

Example:

No doubt, figurative language is used to add more fun an interest to a story or a sentence. After watching this funny and interesting video about figurative language i have pointed out some examples of figurative language used in the story.
They are :
1) when the boy's neighbour had a joke and he said " Its sure to crack you up " which figuratively meant that you will Laugh loudly or openly but the boy ran away because he thought the joke will actually crack his head .
2) when the teacher said " Stretch your arms and legs before going to play ". The teacher figuratively meant to warm up their body before going to play but the boy again ran away in fear because he thought he would actually have to stretch his arms and legs long before playing.
So he decided to stay in his room.

When his parents asked him about why is he upset? He told them the whole story about what he had heard from people. For a minute they thought he had lost his mind but then his mother explained the actual meanings of what people had said and made him calm down.

After watching this short story of (Tedd Arnold) I observed that it is poem where in enormous sentences figurative speech is used ,,where the baby's parents used sentences in figurative sense but Arnold get its literal meaning...

Some of the most important figurative speech used in this Tedd Arnold Story are mentioned below...

1) To break heart ,,
One day the baby tripes on his red truck which miserably fell down and broke into pieces, his mom says that ( this toy might broke your heart) ...This figuratively mean ( to make you sad , gloomy )
But Arnold take its literal meaning that this toy has broken his heart , he guess his mother can't speak lie , so he thinks next time he will play carefully . After this He starts playing with pillow.

2) To Hold the Tongu,,
The little boy got confused when (His grandma ordered him to hold his tongue),,, this figuratively mean (To keep quiet or Silent),,
But lettle He take the literal meaning and thinks on grandma order that how could he hold his slippery, soft , and lettle tongue by something. He thinks it would be my in luck to squeeze or press the the tongue too hard and throw it in the dirt ...

3)Scream lungs out ,,

One day little boy friend said that (His baby sister screams her lungs out every night) .
This figuratively mean ( as loud as possible)
But little boy became so nervous and terrified as taking literal meaning from the idiom that His friend's sister lungs came out by screaming.

Difinitely, Story is amazing and carries some figurative speech means sentences which are changed from their literal meaning.
For example :- for example kid says I would please give him a hand,surely if we go litteraly so it means by physical movement giving a hand and by figurative it would mean help.

In this funny video a little boy is very worried because he does not know about the figurative speech ,and getting the real meaning of speeches and is so confused to understand that what peoples wanna to say ?

there are many examples and figurative speech in this video but I want to explain and share two from them .
1st when he fall over his truck and broke it into pieces and shown it to his mom and his mom used figurative speech by saying that ''it might broke your heart ''its mean was not actual about his heart but was about his confidence and desires but boy took it in real .and understand something else .and he fasten a pillow to his chest and was being careful about his heart.
2nd example is that when his grand mother asked him ''hold your tongue'' boy was unable to understand this figurative speech and was taking apparently meaning of speech and says my tongue is slimy,jiggly,squishy,and grasped his tongue to wash and clean .
and he decided to stay in his room because he was frighten about troubles .
then his parent came to his room asked reason about his upset,and he shared every thing what peoples had said ,
then his mom explained every thing that people said.

This is a funny, humorous and laughter story which has been told by Mr.Tedd Arnold in the book of "More Part" written in rhyming verse.In the story, he explores common figures of speech that amazed and frightened a young boy.
Some of the examples
are described in the following, mentioned in the story.

(1)=To break your heart ( to cause sadness)
Example:
When the boy tripped on his baby truck, it broke into pieces and he jumped to his mother and told her that I have lost my truck.The mother replied that ""I would bet that broke your heart."" Means that it will have must made you upset.Boy thinks that I have broken my heart actually so, he started to play carefully after that and ties the pillow around the cheast in order to protect the heart.

(2)=Give him a hand : (to
assist ,aid)
Example=
When the boy's dad asked him""if I would please give him a hand""means to help him.So, the boy thaught that really I will give him hand and my hands would be detached.At last, he decides that I would attach my hands with a sticky glue and cover with gloves.

(3)=Hold your tongue:(to be quiet or calm down)
Example: when he asked his teacher "but what did Grandma really mean?"She directly replied "'hold your tongue""So the boy once again fell into worries and said that

This video refers to our daily life idioms that we use in our reporting speech.
As the boy was little so he didn't knew about the proverbs and idioms so he followed the actual speech but sooner or later his parents explained him.

In my think, your reply is dissimilar to the given topic.
You have even not illustrated a single example of figure of speech narrated by Mr.Tedd Arnold.
The purpose of the topic is to share with your fellows tow or three example of figurative speech with the incidents which happened to the boy.

In the story, there is a immature boy who is not able to deal with figurative speech routine by it the boy has been made afraid , such speeches are told him by his mother,dad, and teacher.
Here we choose only three examples.
To break your heart=(to become gloomy)
One day when the boy climbed on his truck and made it broken so, he went straight to his mother and asked her mother.........oh I just broke my truck while coming under my feet.she said in answer ""I bet that would broke your heart.means that it may made you sad and anxious.
The boy thought that I have really broken my heart and he made himself a protective while playing.

His dad asked him if a got in trouble then "would you give me a hand" the boy got confused and said actually he will take my hand that would be miserable for me.finally,he decides that would attach my hands with sticky glue and cover them with gloves if my hands got detached or septated.

When he asked his teacher, who had come to him and said to recline his legs and arms,"" what the Grandma really mean""?

The video was like little bit funny and quite interesting too!
 I was smiling all the time during watching the video I am really very impressed from the composer that how amazingly and interestingly he just he just composed a video. It was very fun to learn figurative language and its meanings by this video
Well when his dad ask him to "give me a hand" he just ran away that 'no I can't lose my hands'
 actually what his father figuratively mean is that "help me out"
similarly when his Teacher said "stretch your arms and legs before we go to play" again he ran away with fear that "my hands and legs are not enough stretchable"
 what his teacher actually means was that "be ready for playing"
 Again when his grandma said him to "keep quiet" by saying "hold your tongue" he got surprised again
And when he listened that "her baby sister screams her lungs Out All Night" he didn't got that she what really means she actually meant by saying this was "her baby sister screams louder all the night".

Very interesting and humorous video it was! To the best of my knowledge, here in the story Tedd Arnold has shown the literal and implied meaning of figurative speech. What is literal and implied and how they are used? Let's illustrate through examples .

* Literal means taking words in their usual or most basic sense without metaphor or exaggeration, whereas implied means> implicit, suggested but not directly expressed.

(Some three examples of figurative speech used in the story)

(1) In one situation the father asks his son to give him a hand but son thinks literally that father is asking for hand to cut and give , whereas father thought of implied meaning to help,father asked for help .

(2) In 2nd situation, the teacher tells the boy to stretch arms and legs which means to go for a short walk ,here teacher thought of implied meaning, whereas the boy thought of literal meaning and said that his arms and legs were already long .


(3) In third situation, the boy says something to grandma on the bases of which grandma says hold your tongue which means (you have said enough rude things) grandma used figurative speech, implied meaning, whereas the boy considered it as literal because he didn't know figurative speech so thought of holding tongue with something or tie with something.

Figurative Language is Beautiful And Funny Language through it we can say something that does not exist or imaginary sentences to make things beautiful or funny
The Video Is Really Funny in The Video The 1st Figurative Sentence is " It's sure to crack you up" it was imaginary meaning of the sentence to make it funny or exaggerated but the boy took it as it's actual meaning he thought that it would really crack his head that's why he ran away and started thinking about to safe his head
The 2nd figurative Sentence is "He Claimed That His Baby Sister Screams Her Lungs Out Every Night" it is hyperbole figurative language which is exaggerating things from it's actual. the meaning of this sentence is that his baby sister cries too much at every night that even it seems that her lungs might be come out or lungs may be get shrieked because of crying The Boy got frightened he thought that his friend sister vomits her lungs every night and he got surprised that how is it possible

1)That broke your heart.

Meaning

One day Child tripprd on his red truck and he gets apart from his red truck. When he shares with his mom so her mom says that that broke your heat

Broke your heart is a metaphor Here for the intense emotional stress or pain one feels at experiencing great and deep longing.

2)Hold your Tounge.

Meaning

Child plays with Grandma alot as child is small and young.

Child gets confused when Grandma says hold your tounge.

Here Hold your tonnge as fegrative,idiom and phrase means

That If you hold your tongue, you do not sayanything even though you might want to or be expected to, because it is thewrong time to say it.

It is a formative video which is based on fun where i got the figurative language more easy through this video , which was a kind of test for me and i took several examples from the video .

1 , Give me a hand ,

Where the father seems in trouble and says his son give me a hand , which means figuratively that help me , but the son got scared and escapes .

There are so many figurative speech used in this story of Tedd Arnold,but we have been asked to give 2 or 3.

*1*...GIVE A HAND...

It is Idiom as figurative of speech and it doesn't mean that someone cuts his hand and it to somebody else, but it means that you help him or offer your service. 

*2*....SCREAM LUNGS OUT....

It is also an Idiom and it doesn't mean that the lungs have been out but figuratively it means that someone screams or cries too much.

*3*....BROKEN HEART....

It is an idiom as well as metaphor and it doesn't mean that the heart is broken literally but it means very sad or gloomy.

I am behind time because of net access unavailability.
After perusing the comments and the entire session, I almost got everything clear by the pretty fruitful and appreciable effort of my intimate friends as they have responded.
I do not want to go far, taking my own fascinating paradigm that how I take the things literally which indeed are figuratively spoken.
So this video clip is way attraction-catching just listening to the figurative language taken as literally.
The following points were comprehended out of the clip's figurative language as literal;
1) His mom compassionately felt pity on her kid to have broken his red toy truck by saying '' I'll bet that broke your heart'' where she meant ''her kid could be demoralized or rather disheartened.
2) His father wanted to seek help and asked'' Would you please give me a hand? '' where his son thought of his father's wordings literally and was afraid to cut off his hand and give it to him.
3) His neighbor meant his joke to be ridiculously laughable and said'' It's sure to crack you up'', where he meant that would make him laugh a lot.
4) His teacher for a kinda sense of liberalization told them to stretch their legs but he was afraid that he had his legs and arms already long enough.
5) His Grandma bade him make a noise,said ''hold your tongue''.
6) ''Jump out of one's skin'' if idiomatically or figuratively perceived, means extremely startled.
7) He nearly got out of his senses when he heard his friend claim his baby sister ''scream her lungs out'' (so funny)

Well this story is exciting and fun we can learn more about figurative speech so much. In this story when his grandma said to him that "hold your tongue" by that she meant that he should control his mouth and be quiet but the boy taught that he tongue would slip out or fall off anywhere he got scared and wrapped his tongue.
2. Is that when his neighbours told a joke that will "crack them up" and by that they meant by laughing very hard,but the boy ran away away in fear because he taught that really crack and break in pieces.

My Two examples of figurative speech mentioned in the story

NUMBER 1...
"our next door neighbour had a joke. he wanted us to hear. he said " its sure to CRACK YOU UP " i run away in fear".
here crackup is a example of figurative speech. Crack me up” is a common and useful expression. It sounds much more natural to describe a funny person as someone who “cracks you up,” instead of someone who makes you laugh.
the neighbour wanted to make them lough but tedd though he will crack me.

NUMBER 2.....
" what a friend said recently it gave me such a fright.he claimed his baby sister screams her "LUNGS OUT" every night."
here his friend i used hyperbole to express that his baby sister screams very loud or hard. but tedd thought the baby sister take out her lungs.

I watched this video. It was comical. I found it laughable that boy is taking all the right things opposite. It influinces me too much. Thanks mam for showing us this helpful video.
Now I would like to share my few observations.
1: Like his dad asked him"give me a hand"he feels scare and ran away he think that his dad want his hands and he have to cut his hands but actually in figurative language his father asked him for help.
2:then next day his teacher said that"strech legs & arms before we go and play". Again he feels frightened and ran away but actually in figurative language his teacher wants to say that stretch your legs a and arms and get ready for game.
3:Then his grandma said that"hold your Tongue" again he became worried but actually in figurative language his grandma wants to say that keep quit.

It is a matapher in this fegrative speech means that you no need to share your words it means be silent
And if we know his litral means so words to words can be understood too.

If we know the idiomatic mean and fegrative mean so it tells that i need your help or you make my work easy .

After watching this short story of (Tedd Arnold) I observed that it is poem where in enormous sentences figurative speech is used ,,where the baby's parents used sentences in figurative sense but Arnold get its literal meaning...

Some of the most important figurative speech used in this Tedd Arnold ..
Used by me in daily and my personal life . Where as they are used figuratively but people take literal meaning which produces confusion .

1) To break heart ,,
My friend told me a story about his personal life. He was trapped in someone's love but he was betrayed, then he told me she has broken my heart,, which figuratively mean ( to make you sad , gloomy , unhappy etc )
But when I started narrating the story my mom about my friend's personal life . At the meanwhile my nephew (6 years old) was setting with me when he heard this idiom he took it in literal meaning . He said JaJa ( Sattar ) is telling lie that His friend heart was broken by stone .

2) To Hold the Tongu,,
I have a niece of 4 year old , she was making noise . I told her to hold her tongue in pashto language , by this I figuratively mean (To keep quiet or Silent),,
But she opened her mouth and hold the her toungue by fingers in front of all family. Then we all started laughing at her innocence and simplicity.

3)Scream lungs out ,,

My cousin Waqas said to me (4 years later) that one day I snatched a chocolate from my younger brother He screamed that his lungs came out ,, He used it in our native pashto language, which figuratively means ( as loud as possible)
But I got it in literal meaning and became surprised that how is it possible?
Then waqas told me the figurative of it . Then I came to know about the reality.

( I saw in one funny video that a father ask his daughter to (give him a hand) in some work , at mean while the daughter took knife tried to cut her hand and to give it to her father. She took this idiom in literal meaning not in figurative meaning ...

Hold the toungue.
Which figuratively mean to keep calm .
( when I was in 12th class and we all were taking exam suddenly the examiner shouted that all must hold the toungue. The students were frightened and all students started holding their toungue. All the examiners laughed at at the students who mistakenly hold the toungues ))
All the students took the idiom in literal meaning so that's why such incident took place.

The boy didn't know the figurative meaning of the above sentences . That's why he was confused because he was focusing on literal meaning of the sentences.
