HOW LANGUAGES BECOME EXTINCT ?

The best of all knowledge-enhancing videos concerning the approximate number of seven thousand languages and their extinction.

what I learnt from LANE GREENE in this video are as follows: (TAKEAWAYS)

1.  When the speakers of a language die or start using a different language, so  what finally happens?  A language comes to an end; will no longer be spoken. There existed many such languages decades and centuries ago, which, no longer, are spoken around the world. Such as, the language of Sqanto; a member of Patuxet tribe; the tribe that occupied the western coast of Cape Cod Bay( a large bay of the Atlantic Ocean next to the U.S state of Massachusetts), Later wiped out by an epidemic infection. And the language of Tupinambas who lived in the eastern coast of Brazil, and many more.

2. Why languages die? As we got to hear, 40%  of the languages are endangered, that is because, any group of people that lives during a particular period of time switch to another language or their language, oral literature, ways of life, culture/civilization and many activities of significance are not documented. If nothing remains of them, this might happen that their own progeny, somewhere around the world, lose the awareness of what their ancestors had adopted.

3. Having heard this video attentively, I got a lot to learn, like there still exist such languages which have been resurrected. What grieves us here,is,we do not find the actual fluency from the speakers of revived languages.Such as Hebrew, Hawaiian, Maori, Latin etc

SIR OLIVER WENDHELL HOMES had said something quite educative concerning Language                                                                                                                             "language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow"   (meant) language is an essential tool for communication, not only to communicate thoughts and ideas but to build up friendships, economic relationships and cultural ties. (sorry, here, for the irrelevancy)

In this instructive video clip I have learnt that how a language become extinct ,
TAKE AWAY FROM THE VIDEO
1.Language death occur when when a language loose its last native speaker,
and parents stops to teach children their own language as a result language extinct .
with the death of fluent speaker language lives no more'many languages have some native speakers in such kind situations half of those languages are not taught to new generation,if no generation is being converse into his first language then language has no process
that is why,
new generation become unaware about their primary customs and language and can not speak, the language no more exist.
IN Pakistan many languages became extinct are near to die ,

Badeshi language it has only three native speaker is consider dead , their new generation started to speak Torwali language ,
AER (Hyderabad Sindh) is also near to die because of its less speaker,

Bhaya (Hyderabad sindh ) is also = = =

Gowro (kohistan kpk)

Kalami (swat kpk)

KALLAM belongs to salashion family of language in Washington U-S last native speaker of this language was HAZEL SAMPSON after her death no one exist to speak this language,
is completely dead .

BILINGUAL with an other language .when the speaker of one language mix an other language to their primary language they will loose their first language slowly .as a result extinct occurs.

(google) THE renowned linguist prof.David Crystal wrote in his book ,language death that, ''when a language dies which has never been recorded in some way ,it is as if it has never been '' he adds ''a language died when nobody speaks it anymore.

I have learn alot about how language becomes extint from this video it gives u alot of knowledge too.
Take away from this video is that from a state of endangerment, many languages become extinct. When the speakers of a language are exterminated. Another reason for the extinction is the pressure exerted on a community to incorporate with a more powerful or larger group. It's not good to just forget about the languages.we can also prevent languages.Personally, I think the best possible way to prevent language extinction is to actually speak the language. In pakistan i think Shina, and Balti languages might be placed on the list of endangered languages.

Miss Fiza
As you have mentioned that to prevent language only speaking is enough?
So how it is possible to prevent his language just with speaking if changing took place in language on daily base and native speakers like elders pass away and children have no enough proper awareness about language ? How it is possible?
In reply to Muhammad asif s/d/o Allah din

Re: 13.1 How Languages Become Extinct?

Well asif for me it's a also a good for prevention. If the elder pass away or anything atleast the adults like their mother and father or even theor family members can help them to know about that language.

Well nearly all the languages and dialects of the mountain region in the north of Pakistan such as Pashto, Khowar and Shina are Indo-Aryan or Iranic languages, but Balti is one of the Sino-Tibetan languages. ... Balti and Ladakhi are closely related.

Great clip full of interesting things and alot of knowledge.
Extintion is not a good thing in my opinion. I think many languages are there which are extint like Latin was the language of Rome. The ancient Greek language spanned the entire empire. Every great civilisation developed languages that spread throughout them, only to fall silent after they fell. Those languages were destined never to be uttered in their true form again. It seems that languages die out with the civilisations that used them – but languages are evolving and dying right now.
Next is that There are currently over 570 known extinct languages, and that list grows. Language can be extint when the new generation don't speak it like if a children speak their parents’ language, but only at home or with relatives, a language is considered vulnerable. When children no longer learn their mother tongue, a language becomes endangered. When the youngest speakers of a language are grandparents, a language is critically endangered.
Many languages are become extint now and we should save them from becoming endangered.

Amazing and interesting video clip.
My main take aways from this lesson of (Sir Lane Greene) How language become extinct or disappears in the world history?

1,,, Probably there approximately 7000 languages in the world, Each fortnight a language become extinct after the death of last remaining speaker .According to the world survey each year hundreds of language has disappeared and became extinct. It is due to the language speakers that they don't take interest in using or upbringing their mother toungue , so gradually the language becomes extinct. In coming 80 years (3000 Ad) thousands of languages are endangered to be extincted . Our native languages will face this situation in coming 80 years and they will disappear.

2,,, The interesting fact that has spoken by Lane Greene is that '' An extinct language can revive after long ago Like Hebrew which was revived in 1948 and now there are 7 million speakers of Hebrew in the world.

3,,, Volunteers from all over the world are searching and collecting data to revive the old extinct languages. There are many languages in England and other countries that they were revived by the day and night struggles of volunteers. Now the all are spoken and understood by the masses .

4,,, The language that has less speaker then thousands, are really endangered and they can extinct within no time .
English is the only language where round about 6 to 7 billion of masses speak and write it in all over the world .

Here I found lil bit different angle in Lane Greene research that(( Latin is not a dead language)))

According to my research Latin has been considered as dead language by the linguist and professors of England . Latin vocabularies can be found in many languages like English ,French etc but Latin itself didn't survived anymore.

Well response Dear Hikmat ,,,

I saw the video of Lane Greene with full attention but According to the survey of English professors and natives it is completely dead language....

I have dome much search and research about this ,, finally I found the answer...
In my other reply I have disclosed all the facts ,,, Latin was an impressive language which affected or impressed the English and French language during Mid Ages.. now it is considered as dead language..

I have an interesting research about it , I'll send it on WhatsApp to all classmates.

...now the Volunteers are working to revive it back....

If there is any confusion I will clarify it ... just ask

Dear Abdul Sattar as you are claiming in your reply, "In coming 80 years (3000 Ad) thousands of languages are endangered to be extincted. Our native languages will face this situation in coming 80 years and they will disappear". Does our language "Pashtoo" is also shortlisted in these thousands of languages?

Good question,,, Dear Meraj

Yeah ,,, Our pashto is also endangered in coming 80 years ,,, but our expert professors and well known poets have increased their writing in order to save pashto from extinction..Thses notable works of writers have safe the pashto 80% to 90% from extinction.

No ,, pashto is safe in coming decades because now new writers have started contributing to pashto literature. Secondly pashto language is influenced been introduced in school and it is thought to children. This technique can produce curiosity in youth generation.
According to new poets and experts pashto is safe from extinction.

Task: Discuss your main take away from this talk? Share at least 2 or 3 of them.

The main take ways which I gained from this lesson are as following;

1# How languages dies?

The vary first reason of, why languages dies?, is actually the speakers of that language dies. According to a research; it is estimated that one language dies out in every 14 days (https://www.thestar.com). Similarly, the second reason is that the speakers of that (dying language) turned to another language. For example; we all have heard about the Latin language and also have its written manuscripts, but it is considered by linguists as dead language, because its speakers used to speak other language like; Spanish, French, Italian and Romanian. So, as a result the Latin language transferred into the above mentioned languages. A language is considered dead when it has not a single native speaker. Similarly; Latin language have not a single native speaker in present day that is why Latin is consider as dead language.

2# What we lost if the endangered languages die.

Mr. Lane Green claims in the video that according to UNESCO the 40% of languages are endanger. So, what will be the disadvantages of their lost. According to Ken Hale (taken from the previous video) linguist at MIT, “When a single language is lost it is worse than a bomb is dropped”. Because along with their lost, there also vanished a lot of information that can’t be regain. For instance; culture, philosophy, production, folk literature, etc. So, it shows that losing a language means losing a lot of information.

How language dies ?
After watching Lane Greene Short video clip about how languages die , we are able to know how language is endangered.
Well ! There are approximately seven thousand languages Spoken in the world . According to UNESCO one thousand of languages are endangered.
1: . How languages die ?
When the speaker of an area , country using different languages in their own language. Due to this a language finally comes to an end. By using other languages depress their own language . True language actually dies due to parents not pressurizing their children's to speak their own language . Some times community is also responsible for dieing of language . They use different languages while connecting their business links etc.the languages that are extinct are listed below,
Squanto , language of Tupinambas who lived in Brazil.

2:. How languages are endangered ?
The languages become endangered .when the people of particular area or place migrate to other places or areas. In this way they lift their culture , civilization , habits and most common their language. By living with other tribes they use to speak their language inspite of their own .hence the language of migrated tribe become endanger. Around 40 % of languages in the world are endangered to be extinct.

Hebrew is iIsral's official language which was near to be extinct . But the people of their country use Hebrew as common language . that's why in 1948 Hebrew became fully revived language of Isral's .other revived languages are Hawaiian ,Maori and Latin etc.

Hikmat bro,
Your's point culture ,country ,society ,and Speaking of mother language .
These all have strong relationship to language preservation .
But I think the most important thing is to save language through writing .
Written languages can not be instinct .because they remain alive .
And another thing is new Inventions .. countries those have a culture and society to invent new things and give name in their own language are completely safe.

My Take aways from this video are

•every disappeared language can be revival as like Hebrew.a

° When, native speakers start using other languages so their language becomes Extinct and a time comes no one reamins to speak the same language. And an other thing is that language plays a vital role in any Nations revolution.

Q=
How languages become extinct or die?
Answer=
The most guiding and informative video in which "Lane Greene" describes how languages become extinct or die.
According to him, there are probably 7000 languages that are spoken in the world, of which 40 percent of languages are on the risk of dying out by the end of "21 th" century. With regards of UNESCO after every fortnight, one of the world language comes at the point of extinction.
Generally, speaking a language dies when there is no one to speak it anymore.Language loss happens when the language has no more native speaker and obviously it becomes a dead one.Sometimes, languages die out quickly, this can happen when small communities of speakers or destroyed by a disasters or wars. The children also may forget their native languages when the parents begin to neglect own language and stick to another language to teach and make them understand.Consequently, they will definitely adopt an alternative language that leads to distinction of the native language.

There are some examples of the very languages that are being extincting by the people in Pakistan:
=1)Badeshi: It is a language of South Swat that has very few speakers and about to fall from the existence.
=2)Bhaya: It is a language that is spoken in Sindh especially around Hyderabad.
This language speakers are in a few hundred which made it "threatened l"anguage.
=3)Sansi:
This language is spoken in Sindh and around Karachi that has approximately 20,000 speakers research showed that this type of language is also on his dead point.

What I think, keeping your idea in my mind here, is, a language is never put in risk of extinction unless some other different words are used instead of the actual words. Not while, extra words as an increase.

After watching the vedio I have learnt that how language become extinct.
The state of endangermey many language became extinct when the speaker of language erases .and what Happened to the Tasmanian
In the 19 century many several Language suddenly they are died. And another reason of language extinct the pressure exerted in a more powerful and larger group. Most of areas the people learn foreign language they retained of primary language. The green kand people learn Danish. The language of green land are not Danish. The process of Extinction of language more fast and gradual.in one generation the fate of language is determined pariticularly and the younger children are not learning the Language when a language died it has never record it in most way he adds a language died no one can speaks it any more because of it has died.

SUBMITTING REPLY ON THE BEHALF OF (ATTA-U-REHMAN)...

The main takeaways from this video are described in the following.
A language is expected to die when the native speaker of such language to quit the speaking and writing.so, being neglected by the own speaker of a language, it may remove and vanish from it's existence.
To make alive a language, it must be in utter shape for the speakers.

Why language became extinct???
1,,, The one and only truth behind this reality is that , when the speakers ignore their language words and using other languages instead of their own languages words or vocabularies. So very immediately that language disappeares.
2,,,, When the all speakers and writers of a language dies so the language disappeares with them.

Language plays an important role in human's life , it is the main source of knowing one another .
we can communicate with each others to convey our messages based on our daily life circumtances and undoubtedly it keeps a human alive ,
thus it is part and parcel for a better life .
In the above video i knew several reasons of a language which becomes extinct and aren't spoken forever .

1 , A language becomes dead when the people ( community ) forget it and start to speak another language .

2 , When the last speaker of a language dies then the same language couldn't be spoken fluently again .

These are absolutely the main reasons of a language which becomes extinct ,
First of all when u ignore your own language and follow other language , this way exactly finishes a language and it will not be spoken until u own it again .
