9.2 Speech & Langauge Development

Speech and Language is the thing that springboards the children into the rest of their lives. This film features national and local experts including the chief executive of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and shows how speech and language is not something that simply happens. It shows how the building blocks of speech and language are strongly based in play and the interaction between parent and child.

Speech and language development is communication of life skills of children in 21st century. The children can't learn and communicate with the society without speech and language development. They can't communicate their oral language . The following are basic roles to tran a child with speech and language development such as ;
1 :; opportunity , Reason , motivation to communicate . there are different levels of communication such as verbal and nonverbal speech.
2 :; (1) turn taking
In turn taking you have to share your attention to the child and make him able to listen you .
(2) eye contract listing
In eye contract listing you have to look at childs feedback during taking with them .
3:; understanding of speech
Language
After turn taking and eye contribution child will be able to understand words , phrases and sentences which is the key point for child .
4 :; Taking
Hence after understanding of speech language the child will be able to talk by using words , phrases and sentences . Which comes in the category of non- verbal language .
60 to 90 % of communication take place as non_ verbal communication.
5 :; Using Accurate Speech Sounds
After taking the child must be trained to use accurate speech sounds, which will make the child able to communicate with society and coming world .
Early non_ verbal language is early success for children as building blocks .

This is one of the interesting lesson which enhance our knowledge about child's language DEVELOPMENT and communication skill. This lesson has completely aware us about how the child of 21th century learn and promote his language communication skill? WHAT IS THE IMORTANCE OF SPEECH AND LANGUAGE? WHAT ARE THE THE MAIN ROLES AND PRINCIPLES THROUGH WHICH A CHILD DEVELOP HIS LANGUAGE ?...

1● in the 21th century The masses of European countries have taken very good steps about the childs future. they have set language centres for kids so these centres empower the child to improve his language language skills because one report has completely showed that before thè childs entering or admitting into school they are really poor in language and communication skill.

2● Language perform eminent rule in our lives if some one didn't know the language he can't learn anything. He can not function properly in daily life activities. He will not be able to handle the situation. Without language you can't speak and Express your feelings and emotions.

3●There are some rules and principles which empowers the child to improve his speech and language communication skill,

1》[opportunity /reson/motivate to communicate:]--

In such type of rule if a child took birth .The parents provide opportunity of free environment and keep close themselves with their child and start talking to him . They gave feedback of their child response. This is the first step toward communication DEVELOPMENT for a child . Such technique motivate the child towards communication.

2》 [Turn Talking]
[Eye contact and Listening ][Shared attention]

▪︎The 60 to 70% language of a child is non verbal . Eye contact plays a vital role in language learning. Through eye contact the child's parent get know about his non verbal communication. Eye contact is also a very good source of language DEVELOPMENT.
▪︎the child firstly learn Listening to surrounding voices and gave attention. This attention lead him slowly to hear and listen human voices (language) and he get know how these voices make words ....
The baby share his attention toward his parents while they are doing any work , reading any book, preparing any thing , so the baby/child also shared its attention with the same work which is performed by its parents or mentors. Turn taking is non verbal activity when you performe any thing in front of the baby so baby return or reflect the same as you done Like ( passing football to a child )

3 》[understanding of Spoken language]
In this phase the baby start understanding the words and phrases. The words that he mostly listens . Baby get pleased by hearing the words that he likes.

4 》[Talking]
In these phase the baby start Talking and using the words , phrases and sentences which he had learnt . Slowly his vocabularies enhances . When the baby learn 70 above words then he start trying to combine the words and make easy phrases...

5》[ Using accurate Speech Sounds ]
In this stage the baby use to produce good and clear sounds of his local language,,, his vocabularies enhance more and he combines the words and make a bit complex sentences. His grammer little bit improves without hesitation the baby can speak with out much mistakes.....

This question was not asked to me but I wanna to explain this with an example
dear brother suppose when a person is doing something illegal and suddenly if you see him/ her during this .and if you ask him about what was he / she doing he / she can not communicate directly to you but will communicate with ashamed Eyes. and you can study his /her eyes that was doing something illegal .
and you also can communicate with your Lass eyes.

Turn taking is non verbal activity when you performe any action in front of the baby,,, so baby gave same response on the work you have done ..Ex. you through football toward the baby , in reply baby also through football toward you...

You have mantioned in his reply that if someone do not know the language ...
Question is that how it is possible that someone become unaware about language completely...everyone in this planet know what is language it maybe verbal or non verbal. but deaf , dumb and blind also use indications to fulfill their necessities.
I observed such kind of people's those can not listen and speak working as a mechanic at Lahore. And they used to gather at night and speak in non verbal language and laugh.

1.Speech and Language helps with reading
Reading and literacy skills can significantly aid in communication. When you can spell, you can communicate freely. Teaching these essential skills can be the key to better communication with others.
2. Speech Therapy is also about the language
Speech and language therapy is not just about speech; it also includes language. Many people have a misperception that speech therapy is just about the speech but it is so much more than that.

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs), often called speech therapists, are educated in the study of human communication, its development, and its disorders. SLPs assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and oral/feeding/swallowing skills. This lets them identify a problem and the best way to treat it.
AlsoSpeech therapy most commonly involves therapy to improve articulation and targets how sounds and words are produced. It involves all components of the vocal tract: the vocal folds (cords), jaw, tongue, lips, and teeth, as well as the hard and soft palates. Therapy often involves teaching oral motor placement to address specific speech sounds, but speech therapy also refers to treatment of voice and fluency disorders.

Language therapy, often divided up into expressive language (the ability to use language), and receptive language (the ability to understand language) targets vocabulary and the ability to put words together to form sentences. Language therapy may also address listening skills, the ability to follow verbal directions, and understanding spoken language. As children grow older, therapy may also treat social communication disorders and deficits in written language and reading comprehension.

Children have unique needs and it is important to understand what type of therapy your child needs. A child may not have a speech delay, yet he or she may need support with language skills. Another child may understand language with no difficulty, but struggle to produce his or her own words and sentences. Wherever your child needs, the more you know, the more effective your involvement in therapy will be.

First of all after watching the recommended videos I would like to share my feelings about the question asked by ma'am. all I felt is if there will be no speech and language development we wouldn't be able to talk or communicate and if we will not talk to communicate we won't be able to understand each other. For me it's like the whole world will stop.
I saw somewhere in video that improving communication skills is the key to raising education standards (the bercow report 2008).
So. If you see it as an educational point of view, speech and language development is the base of the educational system we can't just rely on the things we have learned hundred years ago it is important for the student or country to develop the educational system through developing language and speech.
 Development of speech and language is not only concerned with educational system it is also connected with our lives like it support child's ability to communicate and Express understand feelings it also supports thinking and problem solving.
 language is an important skill that allows a person to communicate. As (Bhavna Acharya, speech and language therapist) in the recommended video discussed a pyramid or building blocks of communication, the methods like eye- contact, listening, turn-taking, shared attention, talking are the methods which can be included in development of speech and language.
 if the speech and language wouldn't develop the child also wouldn't be able to communicate learn things or convey what he or she actually wants to say.
 language and speech development is important to a child also in order to adequately exchange information with others in a meaningful way the development in speech and language should be keep going forward.

.According to the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, language is not the same as speech. Language consists of a set of social standards that shows comprehension of the meanings behind words, putting words together in a sentence in order to communicate and understanding commands, directions and information given by others. Children must develop language skills to relate with their parents and peers, as well as to grow into a person who can socially interact with others through life.

Speech and language disorders in children include a variety of conditions that disrupt children's ability to communicate. speech and language disorders are particularly serious, preventing or impeding children's participation in family and community, school achievement. Speech And Language is Important Because Through it We Can Convey Our Message. And By the help of speech and language we can explain our way of thinking our sight our intentions. When a Child is growing his first work is to develop speech and language because it is the first and basic part of life. There Are Many people who can not speak but by the help of speech and language development they can convey their message through text. book or indication . The importance of speech and language are so much .but after watching these videos sent by the ma'am I am going to describe two reasons about the importance of speech language development .
1.with the development of language we became able to understand each other and to understant others feelings and necessities.
2.non verbal communication is also very important .60 to 90% of any actual communication is non verbal .like facial expression,eyes content,body language,
when we want to teach or show any thing to children we indicate toward thing with hand and take name then children can understand .
3.The people whose are disable to communicate or have low ability for speech goes to crimes ..
like people have low ability to speak after any injustice of judicial they goes to crime or commit suicide.

according to experts ,a substantial portion of our communication is non verbal.every day we respond to hundreds of nonverbal cues and behaviors,including postures,facial expressions,eyes gaze,gestures,and tone of voice,from our handshskes to our hairstyles. non verbal communication is part of communication and makes communication beautiful.

well dear, you asked about a person who is disable to speak or have low speaking ability how he goes to the crime.?
let me explain ,,you can estimate from our justice system where a low level advocate compete cases with high level advocate then what occur .i think now you can understand easily. and people whose are disable to speak mean are dumb mostly involved in crimes in different cities.

Children begin to develop language from birth, with the use of cries to get their needs met. if the speech and language not developed it will start affecting a person from his child hood if he will not be able to express his need how will his mind grow properly?

MY POINTS REGARDING THE IMPORTANCE OF SPEECH AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT.

#1....speech and language development is important for all of those societies which want to rise and shine.because if they focus on the people's(specially children) speech and language that society will become able to share their problems or any kind of information with all over world.

#2.... It supports your child's ability to communicate, and express and understand feelings. It also supports thinking and problem-solving, and developing and maintaining relationships.if the child's speech and language is not developed he will be destitute from all of these skills and will be considered as a featherless bird.

Firstly, Speech and language development is therefor important because without speech and language human can't communicate and can't learn without it, similarly we can't function in everyday life...
Secondly, Speech and language development is therefor important because without speech and language we can't receive education which is one of the main pillar of life.
Lastly, with the help of language and speech we can share our inner thoughts with others. That's why speech and language development is important.

Undoubtedly speech and language development are mandatory on a person. We all know that language is the best medium of communication though there are more than 7000 languages in the world and yet we can't learn all these so our body language as well as gestures play vital role when we are unable to convey our message through speech.
The process of communicating is also important to avoid negative thoughts and war because this is 21st century and we people want to live our lives free from war so in order to avoid it we have to communicate.
The most important reason of speech is to tell our motives, feelings and intentions to someone before it's too late.

Answer=

Speech and language are the skill we use to communicate.Without communication and speech language ,the human is nothing ,and he/she cannot servive .Speech is making sound that becomes word /the physical act of talking.
Language is our system of using word to communicate and say what we mean and understanding what other say.
A child who is sorounded by speech and language skill.Taking to and reading to a baby will have a big effect on how will your child is able to communicate later.so language and speech sounds play a vital role or a backbone role in human.In short,to understand other to express idea and entetact with others are fundamental building block for a child development

After watching these videos I came to know that this video was totally about non verbal activities which is already present in the babies like eye contact , hearing , crying, shouting , or loughing even though the babies understand or know there care takers or parents so as mentioned in the video that to the babies a special forum or foundation shoul be provided which is meaning less.

This video is compleatly for our society that every parent should watch becous babies like flowers if u water that, that will give smell to you the same babies also if you love them they will learn and and will move forward but sadly the parents of this society they dont allow the babies for nonverbel activities specialy fathers . So the parents should teach to the babies speech and language by playing and in lovely methode.

Well, after watching the recommended video one thing is clear , that without speech and language development a child's communication skill is zero .
I must say one thing that speech and language development are surely very integral , because through speech and language development a child can communicate with other children, he can understand and make understand others, his communication skill will be superb , he can communicate with anyone without any hesitation.
Generally, we know that speech is the production of sound , a child in the very first year speeches vaguely, we can't understand, he just produces a sound like pa ,ka , or he shouts and laughs .
Slowly and gradually he listens to family members, observes that what the family members say, after observing the words he sees the expressions that after saying such words that is the expression of parents.
For example, when we cry before a child , so he also cries , he doesn't laugh because he understood the expression.
After the observation of expression second thing comes (language) in second year same child starts communicating with members, listens and and speaks .
Sometimes, children even can't communicate at age of 5 or 7 because parents are lax, they adopt or communicate with their children sluggishly , such children fail to communicate with others and their lives become deleterious for them , such children need to be sent to a pathologist, where they can be cured and their communication skill can be enhanced.

It was my view after watching the recommended video , if anything is missing or my explanation is irrelevant, so kindly help me and suggest me .

Speech and language development is part and parcel for the early age kids , where they grow , observe and get new things around them .
It make them able to talk with each others on various issues of their daily lives .
Both speech and language bring the capability of speaking and talking in them with the passage of time .
With out speech and language development they face several problems in their daily routine where they can't share the things they need and then it becomes difficult for them to feed up even they don't feel joyful in their lives .
Speech and language development make the kids able to convey their messages and bring the improvements of new talks and conversations where not only they feel satisfaction , but live happily too .

Could you please elucidate it a bit further??? that how a kid's communication skills are zero without speech and language development ??? because as I have observed in the vicinity of my domicile ,there are such children who are dumb but able enough to communicate by indications or rather non verbal language

Speech and language development is damn important because our lives are connected with the speech & language. If we are communicating we are using language and of course we do not rely on the language we're using 100 or more year ago. We realy need development in it to run a system better for making educational system more better and developed. The globe is today runing on the language we are using language in offices, at works, in marketing, at homes, in business. So if we want to develop the way of thinking and way of working. Language and speech should develop language and speech development should go further for better development in every field.

Speech and language development is very important for communication. Because it is a basic skill to communicate with others. while considering the importance of why communication is necessary ? Lets have a glance , As we all are familiar with chlid, Thats they do not know the speech at their early stages. So, It is obvious the child communicates non verbally such as Crying for nutrition etc.

With the passage of time somehow they develop speech aa a communicating tool in order to express the feelings, emotions etc and to meet the requirements for  growth. It is absolutely clear that without development of the particular communicating skill the child cannot grow normal even the survival in such sort of situations is near to impossible. Therefor, For the sake of  expressing the expressions or feelings The child develops the communicative skills. In intial stages eyea contact and shared attention  plays a vital role which  no doubt is non verbally. The child learning system and development activates from the very beginning when they open the eyes in this world. By times the child learns to Express the feelings and emotions through getures which we may say the initial sources for communicating purpose.

communication is very necessary to fit completely in a society. This is because of the communication the child develops to express the problems and expressions. 

The speech and language development help an individual to interact with society and also its related socially problems. To understand all the issues and as well as the requirements for  survival in peaceful and meaningful way. 

Nonetheless, The society rely on the contents its individuals have learned only wether verbally or non verbally. A society needs a proper speech and language development  system for the successful growth. So, Thats why it is very important to develop the speech and language for interactions and communications purpose.

Thus,It is concluded that for exchanging of the thoughts and solutions of the many problems we need  a communications skills which we only get through the development of speech and language.
